The Birmingham Jobs Fair is on the 27th October 2017, at the Council House between 10am and 2pm.

It is a good idea to bring copies of your CV with you as between 20-30 companies will be recruiting on the day.

We are looking for women of all ages to join our new Ladies football team!
You don’t have to have any experience playing football, just a passion to learn, keep fit and have some fun.
So far, we are a small (inexperienced!) group of varying ages (minimum age 18 - no maximum age!) starting out and if you fancy giving it a go, then training is every Friday 6.30pm-7.30pm at Baxters Field, Whittington WS14 9TB
We are planning on training together, learning the game and required skills to then join a league towards the end of next year!

October Half term Project
Monday 23rd  Tuesday 24th and Wednesday 25th October.

I am planning a 3 day project where I take your child to my other youth club at Kineton each day.  They will participate in a varied programme of activities that is designed to be fun whilst providing working families with a childcare solution in the holidays.

We will be leaving camp (from the car park outside the main gate) at 0900hrs and returning at 1500 hrs each day  and the cost will be £10 per day per child.  If you have more than one child we will be doing a discount of £15 for 2 and £20 for 3 children from the same family.   Children must be aged 8 and above to participate.

You MUST BOOK in advance to secure a place, and fill in the necessary paperwork for me to take your child/ren off site.

Tamworth Fireworks Extravaganza returns for its ninth year and promises to be a un-missable event!

Attended by thousands each year where the whole family can enjoy an evening of fun and entertainment, starting at 6pm with the fireworks starting at 8pm.

As the event is expected to be incredibly popular, we advise walking or using public transport

Limited free parking will be available at town centre car parks from 6pm and motorists are reminded that any parking must be in accordance with prevailing traffic orders.

SFA Compensation Scheme - High Street Vouchers UPDATED INFORMATION



DIO is pleased to announce that the problems surrounding the issue of High Street Vouchers to successful SFA Compensation Scheme claimants have now been resolved. Claimants are now being sent details of the appropriate codes to allow Vouchers to be redeemed from our supplier’s site.
The Compensation Team is working to clear the backlog of successful claims on a date approved basis; it is expected this will be cleared by mid-November.
We would like to apologise once again for the time taken to resolve this issue. The Compensation Scheme remains open for new claims.

School - Apply now for September 2018

Don't forget to apply for your child's school place for 2018 

If your child is due to start secondary or upper school in September 2018, you must register and apply for their school place by 31 October 2017. 

If your child is due to start primary, junior or middle school in 2018 they have until 
15 January 2018 to apply.

Extended FREE childcare entitlement in overseas locations Are you posted overseas? Do you have children who are three or four years old?

The MOD has published a document giving information about free childcare entitlement in overseas locations. AFF has compiled a summary of the regulations. 
The MOD aims to provide services similar to those in England where possible, whilst recognising the support that is given elsewhere in the UK to all eligible Service Personnel.
Currently, the MOD provides 15 hours of childcare per week for 38 weeks of the year for three and four year olds in places at MOD-provided settings, or through access to the MOD Overseas Nursery Allowance.
Additional FREE hours
From 1 September 2017, eligible children can access an additional 15 hours a week for 38 weeks of the year.

Found an old £1 coin? Make it count. 

After the old pounds stop being accepted in UK shops on 15 October, you'll still be able to donate old coins to a Poppy Appeal collection near you from 26 October. Support veterans and Forces personnel. 

Lichfield District Council - Old £1 coin not legal tender from 16 October 2017

From 16th October the old £1 coin will no longer be legal tender and LDC will be unable to accept them in parking/vending machines etc.  The Royal Mint has confirmed the old £1 coin can be deposited at most high street banks after the deadline date, provided that you hold an account with them.  Please contact your Bank for more information

Handy pension information at your fingertips


Using your smartphone, you can now access all things to do with the Armed Forces Pension super quickly, and in one nifty place including the Pension Calculator. 
This facility is quick and easy access to enable you to find out more about your Armed Forces pension and what it is worth.  It provides handy links to more in depth pension information and booklets if required and the pension calculator where a personalised forecast can be generated in a matter of minutes.  It is a one stop shop for you as current serving personnel and veterans accessible anywhere via your Smartphones.
To save it to your smartphone, simply load the website by typing in grablife.moneyforce.org.uk to your browser. Then click on the 'menu' button (Android) or tap on the 'add to homescreen' function on the Safari control bar (Apple) and then you will see your own icon appear to use as you need it!

Our survey will cover all aspects of your transition journey; from your reasons for leaving to the impact transition has on your family. We’ll also explore your main transition challenges and invite you to tell us your ideas about how transition support can be improved.

New SSAFA Single Point of Contact for RAF


As part of their contract to provide a Personal Support & Social Work Service (PS&SWS) to the Royal Air Force, SSAFA are introducing a new Single Point of Contact facility with effect from 4 September 2017.
This single point of contact will complement exisiting SSAFA contact arrangements and offer a telephone call handling and referral capability which particularly supports those Service personnel and families who are located away from on-station welfare provision.

Changes To Childcare Vouchers


Are you prepared for the changes to Childcare Vouchers? In early 2017, the Government is planning to start rolling out Tax-Free Childcare, a new initiative for working parents which will soon replace the current Childcare Voucher Scheme.

If you sign up for Childcare Vouchers before April 2018 you can remain on the scheme, and will be able to choose which is more cost-effective for you and your family.
